ATM-2Plus Tube Amplifier By Air Tight

In 1988, Air Tight introduced the original ATM-2, a KT-88-based Push-Pull power amplifier that garnered numerous awards. Now, after over 30 years, Air Tight is revitalizing this iconic model with its renowned technical expertise. Introducing the all-new ATM-2Plus, boasting a fresh design while preserving the distinguished Air Tight style. Every aspect, from circuitry to internal construction, has been meticulously revamped. With vintage KT-88 tubes scarce, the focus is on optimizing tube life and amplifier stability with lower plate voltage.

To achieve the optimal operating point for KT-88/6550 tubes, Air Tight has integrated 6CG7/6FQ7 tubes, offering greater power than the original 12AU7 for enhanced amplitude and reduced distortion. Redesigned Negative Feedback ensures optimal damping factors, tailored to today’s speakers. The ATM-2Plus features new Tamura 100W class output transformers for ample low-end response. For the crucial power transformer, Air Tight opts for a custom-made, hand-wound and paper-wrapped transformer crafted by skilled Japanese artisans, delivering a clearer and more expansive soundstage.

The ATM-2Plus retains the exterior design of its predecessor while introducing a new chassis design that conceals fasteners using stud bosses for enhanced aesthetics and firm frame grounding. Additionally, it incorporates fast-breaking fuses to safeguard the amplifier from output tube failures.

Staying true to tradition, the ATM-2Plus avoids printed circuit boards, with all assemblies and wirings crafted by hand by skilled artisans at the AirTight factory in Takatsuki, Osaka.
