PA 2500 R Integrated Amplifier By T+A HiFi

The T+A PA 2500 R Integrated Amplifier builds on the proven circuit design of the PA 2000 R while delivering significantly greater performance and power. Featuring heat sinks that are twice the size and two advanced high-performance mains power supply units, the PA 2500 R can deliver more than 280 watts per channel into 4-ohm speakers (140 watts into 8 ohms). This impressive power output allows it to drive demanding loudspeakers with ease while maintaining exceptional control over phase and impedance. The result is a sound that is powerful, dynamic, and remarkably refined.

A key element behind the amplifier’s performance is its advanced power supply design. Instead of relying on oversized transformers typically required in conventional amplifiers, T+A engineers developed a regulated high-frequency sine-wave power supply with substantial energy reserves. This innovative approach enables the amplifier to deliver up to 1200 watts of instantaneous power, ensuring stable voltage and outstanding current delivery even during demanding musical peaks.

Attention to detail is evident throughout the design. Carefully selected audiophile-grade components—including low-loss mica capacitors with silver electrodes, zero-induction resistors, and precision low-noise audio resistors—help preserve signal integrity and sonic accuracy. Premium nickel-free gold or rhodium-plated terminals further enhance reliability and performance. Many of these components are derived from high-specification industrial and military applications, meeting rigorous standards for durability and consistency.

The latest R-series models also feature a newly developed high-speed internal data bus, allowing seamless communication between compatible components. This makes it possible to control an entire system with a single remote control. When paired with the MP 2000 R, system control can also be managed conveniently via the T+A App on iOS or Android devices.

To ensure long-term reliability, the amplifier includes an advanced protection system positioned outside the signal path so that sound quality remains unaffected. The circuitry continuously monitors the relationship between input and output signals and instantly disengages the outputs if abnormalities such as clipping, distortion, overheating, or short circuits are detected.

The design is completed with T+A’s signature R-series craftsmanship, featuring a solid aluminum front panel with excellent shielding, a bright dimmable VFD display, and elegantly illuminated control knobs.

The Absolute Sound
However, the PA 2500 R and MP 2000 R exceeded my expectations by a wide margin. Even though they can be purchased individually, I consider them an inseparable partnership, completing each other´s thoughts like identical twins would. In other words, wunderbar!
