Product Description

The DAC1 Mk II is a high-performance digital-to-analog converter designed to deliver exceptional audio quality. It features a versatile range of inputs, including one USB, one RCA, one Toslink, and one AES input. The USB input is powered by advanced Amanero technology, using two precise oscillators to ensure a low-jitter music signal, which is then galvanically isolated by capacitive isolator components. The other inputs also benefit from galvanic isolation and de-jittering through high-quality transformers and capacitors, protecting the sensitive signal from external interference.

For digital-to-analog conversion, the DAC1 Mk II utilizes two renowned 1794A converter modules from Burr Brown. Each channel is equipped with its own dedicated module, delivering a 5 dB improvement in dynamic range. The analog current signal is meticulously converted into a voltage signal through a discrete setup, buffered in Class A technology, and routed to the output. With its fully balanced design, the DAC1 Mk II implements four independent channels from the converter modules to the output for pristine audio fidelity.

The power supply design is equally impressive, with twelve separate power supplies dedicated to each functional unit. Each pair of output channels is driven by an independent linear supply featuring an oversized transformer, ensuring clean and stable power delivery.

Every component and circuit layout of the DAC1 Mk II has been rigorously tested in extensive listening sessions by experienced audio experts. Particular attention was given to the selection of capacitors, voltage regulators, converter components, transistors, resistors, signal processing, I/V converters, and output stages to achieve superior sound performance.

Crafted with exceptional precision, the DAC1 Mk II is manufactured in Switzerland. From the housing, front panel, and control knobs to the component placement, assembly, and final inspection, every detail reflects the highest standards of Swiss quality and craftsmanship.

High Fidelity
“Looking at what the DAC 1 Mk II did with Scofield’s album, I would point to it as one of the leads. It’s a DAC with perfectly balanced proportions, with an internally complex, refined sound. The latter is slightly lowered, with strong support in the mid-bass and in the breakthrough with the midrange. The treble, on the other hand, is selective, resolving, but also dense and more “loose” than “biting.””

Pt.Audio
“The Merason DAC-1 Mk.II. This is the DAC that has impressed me the most so far on the basis of sound–at least in my reference system. It’s not just about the warmth, it’s about the way it combines that analog-style tonality with loads of detail. I feel like I’m beating a dead horse when I say that lone combination of strengths is my ultimate goal in this hobby, but that’s what my favorite gear accomplishes with aplomb.”
