The EAR is proud to offer EAR Electronics, widely regarded for producing some of the most musical and engaging tube amplifiers available. In a market crowded with high-end brands—many at far higher prices—EAR stands out for its visionary designs and exceptional sonic character. Integrated models simplify your system by eliminating the need for a separate preamplifier, reducing both complexity and overall cost.
The EAR 869 is a single-ended amplifier that can function as either a standalone power amp or a full integrated amplifier, with no connection required between pre-out and amp-in jacks. It delivers 13 watts per channel into 4, 8, or 16 ohms, uses EL519 output tubes, is self-biasing, and includes six line-level inputs plus a tape output. The 869 combines classic single-ended tube warmth with remarkable clarity and musicality, making it an ideal choice for lovers of high-fidelity sound.
About EAR
EAR Electronics (formerly “Esoteric Audio Research”) is the creation of Tim de Paravicini, a legendary designer whose name has been synonymous with high-fidelity electronics since the 1970s. His pioneering techniques have influenced not only EAR products but also designs for some of the world’s most respected audio manufacturers—many of which remain highly prized by discerning listeners decades later.
De Paravicini’s contributions extend well beyond high-end audio into professional recording and mastering. His tape recording systems, microphones, and other studio electronics have been used by artists such as Pink Floyd and Lenny Kravitz, labels like Altarus and Water Lily, and renowned engineers including Bob Ludwig, Joe Gastwirt, and James Guthrie. Top mastering facilities such as The Exchange in London rely on EAR-designed systems for their entire playback chain, from tape machines and equalizers to cutter amplifiers and monitors, while Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs uses his LP cutting and playback systems.
EAR amplifiers are celebrated for reproducing music with exceptional purity, free from the colorations and distortions common in most amplifiers. De Paravicini’s research into ultrasonic resonances, transient response, and the subjective effects of distortion has informed both design and measurement, bridging the gap between technical precision and musicality. The result is a line of amplifiers renowned for transparency, accuracy, and lifelike sound—truly among the finest ever made.

“This is a great cable ! Love your turntable rig but hate your computer audio setup because it sounds dry, flat and uninvolving ? Curious Cables will have you sorted out in no time.”
