The EAR 861 is a pure Class A push-pull power amplifier that operates in enhanced triode mode, delivering 32 watts per channel in stereo (and 64 watts in mono when bridged). It effortlessly drives 4, 8, or 16 ohm speakers with zero overall negative feedback, ensuring incredibly clean and natural sound reproduction. About EAR
EAR (formerly “Esoteric Audio Research”) is the brainchild of Tim de Paravicini, whose name has been associated since the 1970s with electronics of the highest fidelity. De Paravicini’s innovative techniques have not only borne fruit in products for EAR, but in designs for some of the world’s most highly regarded electronics manufacturers. Some of these designs have been continually prized—and sought—by discerning listeners for decades after their introduction.
Tim de Paravicini has also made unique contributions to the world of professional recording and mastering. Users of his tape recording systems, microphones, and other recording technology include performers Pink Floyd and Lenny Kravitz, the Altarus and Water Lily record labels, and renowned recording and mastering engineers like Robert Ludwig, Joe Gastwirt, and James Guthrie. One of the world’s highest-ranked mastering facilities, The Exchange in London, uses two playback systems in which the entire chain–from tape machines and equalizers to cutter amplifiers and monitoring equipment—is EAR-designed and built. The PA 3100 HV from T+A is a high-performance integrated amplifier designed for audiophiles seeking reference-level sound quality and exceptional system flexibility. It features a meticulously engineered pre-amplifier section, an upgraded analog power supply, and a powerful voltage delivery system that together provide outstanding clarity, control, and musical dynamics.
For systems requiring even greater performance, the amplifier can be paired with the optional T+A PS 3000 HV Power Supply, which further enhances stability and power reserves—helping the amplifier drive even the most demanding loudspeakers with ease.
The design also allows for additional functionality through optional modules, including a high-end phono pre-amplifier for vinyl playback or an analog signal processor module offering tone and loudness adjustments. This modular approach provides the flexibility to tailor the amplifier to different listening preferences and system setups.
Advanced Circuitry & Performance
At its core, the PA 3100 HV utilizes differential cascode amplification with discrete J-FET transistors, a configuration known for delivering exceptional linearity, low noise, and wide dynamic range.
High-quality gas-tight gold-contact relays are used throughout the signal path to ensure reliable switching and long-term performance while minimizing unwanted noise.
