Product Description

Introducing the Solitaire T, engineered to redefine the boundaries between work and travel headphones for audiophiles, ensuring T+A’s renowned sonic performance is accessible anywhere.

Its innovative transducer system delivers audiophile-quality sound in both active and passive modes. Crafted from solid aluminum, these components not only enhance durability but also serve as a testament to their robust design. The Solitaire T offers versatile connectivity options, including symmetrical passive and active analog inputs, USB-C, and high-quality wireless Bluetooth. This versatility ensures optimal performance with any music source, making it the ideal companion for discerning listeners on the move.

Noise cancelation portability

The Solitaire T excels in versatility, meticulously engineered by T+A to minimize background noise in both active and passive modes. A cellulose diaphragm integrated with advanced damping materials ensures effective passive sound insulation against unwanted mid-range and treble noise. For bass frequencies not addressed passively, a precision-calibrated active suppression system provides thorough elimination. T+A upholds uncompromising standards for wireless connectivity, employing Bluetooth Standard 5.1 class 2 with codecs like aptX HD and AAC. This ensures wireless convenience without sacrificing audio fidelity, approaching the quality of wired connections to high-fidelity components.

Design & Materials

The Solitaire T embodies T+A’s renowned design philosophy, refined over forty years for consistent simplicity and durability. Machined from solid aluminum, each component is pearl-blasted and anodized for a sleek finish. Precision hard metal couplings allow the ear caps to rotate 90° and fold inward, enhancing portability whether in use or carried around the neck. The ear and head pads feature high-quality anti-allergenic synthetic leather, ensuring lasting comfort even during extended travel.

Operation

These headphones from T+A prioritize simplicity and intuitive use, offering multi-sensory feedback for every interaction. Whether using buttons, switches, or the interactive touchpad, all inputs are confirmed audibly and tactilely, ensuring clarity in operation.

Wired inputs

The Solitaire T stands out as T+A’s most versatile offering yet, serving as both a closed-back audiophile headphone and a lightweight, portable unit. It features dual wired inputs—digital and analog—for flexible connectivity. Audiophiles can opt for pure analog or enjoy the benefits of digital clarity through its USB-C port without compression. In passive mode, the Solitaire T maintains signal integrity with symmetrical transfer via Pentaconn, 3.5mm, or 6.3mm connectors. T+A’s Active Analog concept enables convenient volume control and effective background noise suppression in analog mode.

Transducer & Sound

T+A is dedicated to pure music reproduction. The Solitaire T features an exceptionally light and rigid diaphragm for agility and dynamic range, maintaining integrity even under stress. Its optimized low bass system enhances transient response for a seamless frequency range. These headphones deliver superb sound quality in both active and passive modes, capturing every detail with clarity and precision, without the need for external power or signal processing.

When in active mode, the Solitaire T’s transducer quality hinges on its integrated electronics. Utilizing the Qualcomm QCC 5127, a premier Bluetooth chip, it establishes a robust digital connection. Supporting a variety of audiophile codecs and boasting low energy consumption, it guarantees high-quality music playback reliability.

The DAC section links seamlessly with the Bluetooth chip, incorporating the Esstech ES9218 Sabre DAC. This DAC excels in decoding high-resolution formats, preserving every detail and nuance with exceptional fidelity, ensuring an emotionally powerful soundstage.

Major HiFi
“The T+A Solitaire has the best balance of any wireless ANC Bluetooth headphone at the time of writing this article. This is perhaps the first time I could truly forget that I was listening with a Bluetooth headphone. Why am I not giving this a Major HiFi Gold? The price and the sound stage. Why not a silver? The price. While this may be the most impressive wireless headphone I’ve reviewed, I have to admit that its hard to be okay with it going for twice as much as the Focal Bathys (which happens to beat out the Solitaire T in terms of sound stage). A price drop of a few hundred dollars would make the T+A Solitaire the best wireless headphone of the year. Honestly, I still think it is, and hope the future holds more wireless balances like the Solitaire T’s at more affordable prices.”

“There’s no question that the Solitaire T is a talented headphone. The fantastic separation and transparency makes for a great soundstage and a very realistic listening experience overall. Furthermore, the light and buoyant character of the sound profile is a welcome change from other headphones in this echelon. And using the balanced connection, the Solitaire T seems worth the price tag. My only criticism lies with the volume when using the wireless feature. I fear it may not be loud enough for some listeners. But if you plan to also make use of the wire, this problem is solved.”

HiFi and Music Source
“As passive headphones, with the added balanced signal path, these are headphones deserving of a proper headphone amplifier solution if you have it anyway. The portable flexibility offered by these headphones is just another value point in my view. The USB-C digital solution in the right company is the icing on the cake in respect of clean digital signal paths and all around, these headphones are well worth a listen if this is near your budget and they are worth the stretch.”

“This pair of headphones offers the best of both worlds. They function as a superb pair of passive headphones while offering excellent wired or wireless digital performance, with the option of switching on ANC to eliminate unwanted sounds. Highly Recommended.”
