Product Description

A great strength of the Reed 3P tonearm is the innovation in its bearing system. Although the 3P bearing system can be considered a gimbal, it behaves like a unipivot. However, a major difference from the unipivot system is that instead of a single pivot point, the 3P design employs three pivot points, with vertical and horizontal axis magnetic stabilizers, offering unparalleled stability. Such a bearing system is as rigid as a gimbal, with a friction coefficient as low as a unipivot.

The Reed 3P also offers magnetic anti-skating, plus azimuth and SRA adjustment controls that can be fine-tuned while the record plays, for precise adjustment by ear.

Design Awards

Reed 3P is recognized not only for its high-quality sound but also for its distinctive design. The 30-member international expert jury of the “Red Dot Award: Product Design” bestowed Reed with one of the coveted awards for the Reed 3P in 2012. The Red Dot Design Awards are held by Design Zentrum Nordrhein in Westfalen (Germany). With origins going back to the 1950s, Red Dot has established itself internationally as one of the most appreciated quality seals for outstanding designs.

The 3P Tonearm was nominated by the German Design Council committees for the German Design Award in 2014. The German Design Award is an international premium prize, which successfully enhances the standing of both designers and companies. Its organizer, the German Design Council, has been representing and supporting the German design industry with its expertise in design for 60 years now. A nomination for the German Design Award on the occasion of the anniversary of the German Design Council was especially significant as it stands for 60 years of excellence in design culture.

Reviews

HighFi Delity
“The combination of some softness, or perhaps better to say some culture, and high resolution of the Reed 3P is truly unique. The bass reaches extremely deep and has a very good definition, which has the additional effect of “scale”. Although it seems delicate, in its sound there is no deceptive airiness, which is usually nothing more than lightness and the lack of “basis”. Here, everything serves the higher goal of neutrality combined with naturalness. The Reed 3P is a wonderful example of a successful marriage of design, technology and sound. You can fall in love with and become addicted to it. “

Positive-Feedback

“Now along comes the Reed 3P tonearm as a replacement for the DFA and I don’t recognize the sound of this front-end anymore. This arm brought a characteristic sound that is extrovertedly analogue. It is not neutral, as the term is commonly used today to mean uninflected and colorless. The Reed is colorful in the best sense of the word, just as live music is. And it does the audiophile dog and pony show as well as the best of them. “
