EAR is proud to offer EAR Electronics, known for producing some of the most musical and engaging tube amplifiers available. In a market crowded with high-end brands—many at far higher prices—EAR stands out for its visionary designs and exceptional sonic character. With multiple models to choose from, it’s easy to find the amplifier that best complements your system and delivers the sound signature you desire. Integrated models simplify your setup by eliminating the need for a separate preamplifier, reducing both complexity and cost.
The EAR 899 is a push-pull stereo integrated amplifier delivering 70 watts per channel into 4, 8, or 16 ohms, serving as the integrated version of the acclaimed 890. It can be used either as a full integrated amplifier or a standalone power amplifier. The 899 features KT90 output tubes, is self-biasing, and offers six line inputs plus a tape output, combining flexibility with the rich, dynamic tube sound that EAR amplifiers are known for.
About EAR
EAR Electronics (originally “Esoteric Audio Research”) is the creation of legendary designer Tim de Paravicini, whose name has been synonymous with ultra-high-fidelity electronics since the 1970s. De Paravicini’s innovations have shaped not only EAR products but also designs for some of the world’s most respected audio manufacturers, many of which remain highly sought after by discerning listeners decades later.
Beyond high-end audio, de Paravicini has had a profound impact on professional recording and mastering. His tape recording systems, microphones, and other studio electronics have been used by artists such as Pink Floyd and Lenny Kravitz, as well as by labels like Altarus and Water Lily. Renowned engineers including Bob Ludwig, Joe Gastwirt, and James Guthrie have relied on his equipment, and top mastering facilities like The Exchange in London employ EAR-designed systems for their entire playback chain—from tape machines and equalizers to cutter amplifiers and monitoring equipment. Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs also uses his LP cutting and playback systems.
EAR amplifiers are celebrated for their ability to reproduce music with extraordinary purity, free from the coloration and distortion common in most amplifiers. De Paravicini’s research into ultrasonic resonances, transient response, and the subjective effects of distortion has informed both design and measurement interpretation, bridging the gap between technical accuracy and musical performance. The result is a line of amplifiers that delivers exceptional transparency, precision, and lifelike sound—widely regarded as some of the most accurate amplifiers ever produced.

“This is a great cable ! Love your turntable rig but hate your computer audio setup because it sounds dry, flat and uninvolving ? Curious Cables will have you sorted out in no time.”
